Winning the toss the Saints elected to bat and it was Brad Loats and Lachie Pyle who set a foundation for the Saints to build on.
Both Loats and Pyle cracked boundaries and rotated the strike well against Nathalia’s openers Brayden Summerville (0/17) and Mark Wilson (0/24).
They raced the score to 46 before Loats was bowled for 21 with changeover bowler Nate Summerville (1/32) making the breakthrough.
Connor Thornton joined Pyle and from the start Thornton was seeing them like beach balls.
The two raced the score towards 100.
No sooner than Pyle raised his bat for 50 he was caught off Brady Walpole (1/35) and the score was 2/93. Tim Cooper joined Thornton and Thornton took it up to the Nathalia attack.
He smashed 4 sixes and 10 fours to race the score past the 100 mark, then the 150 mark.
Whilst this was going go at the other end Cooper was rotating the strike keeping Thornton on strike, however with the score on 202 Tristan Myers claimed his first wicket bowling Cooper for 26 and the Saints were 3/202.
Andrew Parr followed shortly caught for a duck off the bowling of Steven Summerville, the first of his four wickets.
Thornton finally reached his 100 with a quick single raising the bat for a well-played century.
Thornton then cracked another couple of sixes before Steven Summerville finally made the breakthrough for Nathalia with Thornton hauling out for 113 off 89 balls (10 fours, 6 sixes).
The Saints were now 5/221.
Tristan Mears (2) stumped off Steven Summerville again and Cody Heazlewood (3) was bowled by Myers and the Saints had collapsed to 7/224 with five overs to go.
Harley Middleton and Fraser Haintz took the score to 241 when Haintz was caught off Steven Summerville for his fourth wicket.
Darcy Pyle and Middleton saw the score past 250 and the Saints finished at 8/253 after their 40 overs with Middleton 21 not out..
With the Saints turn in the field Loats (1/3) struck early with the new ball claiming opener Walpole for a duck caught with the score on seven.
Cooper Binks joined Wilson in the middle and the two knuckled down to frustrate the Saints attack. The two batted conservatively reaching the 15 over mark before Binks was caught for six off the bowling of Thornton (2/32).
Wilson followed shortly after prior to drinks caught behind for 24 off Thornton. Nathalia were now 3/44.
Brayden Summerville batted well for his 18 finding the gaps regularly but as the Nathalia batsmen looked set Mears (2/2) chipped in for a wicket claiming Summervile caught.
Daniel Thorn followed one run later with Mears striking again with Thorn caught on the boundary.
From there it was a steady loss of wickets for Nathalia finally finishing all out for 72 with Billy Liddell (1) bowled by Stu Pyle (1/3), Myers caught for five off Heazlewood (2/2) and Nate Summerville caught behind again off Heazlewood for five.
Steven Summerville was the not out batsman for two and the Saints winning by 181 runs.
Connnor Thornton for his big effort with both bat and ball claimed the Tim Harris Transport Award.
