Racegoers and punters alike are gearing up for the Kids Day Out race day at Benalla Racing Club this Sunday, January 16.

The race list will offer seven event across the day, with three maiden plates to start the day, with four handicap races to round out the list.

The Lindsay Park training duo of Ben and JD Hayes are expected to bring a number of runners to Benalla, fresh off some very pleasing results for the pair at Sandown on Monday afternoon.

Three-year-old pacer Keppel Bay will compete in the first maiden plate, fresh off a second placed finish at Mornington on December 29.

Peter Moody’s three-year-old New Zealand gelding Tricology is also expected to perform well in the maiden plate, after claiming runner-up in its last two races in Yarra Valley and Mornington.

Debbie Delphin’s six-year-old mare Ahadi Farasi will be in with a shout in the final handicap, after running out as a strong winner in its latest race at Corowa last year.

It will have stiff competition in the form of Pat Cannon’s four-year old gelding Schultzy, after it cleaned up at Echuca’s new years eve event to finish first in the Farewell Tee Snags maiden plate, after finding the line well at Yarra Valley the fortnight previous.

Conditions are expected to provide perfect racing weather, on what looks set to be a wonderful day of racing for all involved.

General admission is $10 per person, while children under 16 can attend for free. Umbrella packages are available from $150 for a track-side view. Gates open at noon.
