The opening weekend of the Benalla Festival was a great success with events across the town and neighbouring villages attracting an array of visitors.
The festival actually kicked off last Wednesday when Benalla Library hosted the launch of the Memories in my Luggage exhibition, which will be open all week.
The Happy Wanderer music and arts Festival got under way on Friday evening with many attendees camping there all weekend.
Saturday and Sunday were beautiful spring days and the ideal condition for six local gardens opened up to the public.
Open gardens at Winton, Tatong, Baddaginnie, Benson St, Grant Dve and on the Benalla-Yarrawonga Rd displayed a variety of manicured native plants, shrubs, flowers and trees.
The Benalla Show and Shine at the showgrounds was a great success with visitors vying for the perfect photo of the amazing classic cars, trucks and motorbikes on display.
The Game, Set, Match tennis tournament had the whole Benalla Lawn Tennis club alive with activity as locals and visitors tussled for the top singles and doubles prize.
The airport was a buzz of activity with several events taking place including the Migrant Camp exhibition and a Ceramic Pottery Exhibition, with the Aviation Museum also drawing a crowd.
The Tatong Art Show was a popular destination with a variety of styles and artists on display.
Street Art at the Church in Goorambat also displayed some amazing pieces, with popular wall mural Sophia keeping an eye on all who attended.
A variety of other events also kept crowds entertained, including, Come and Try Archery at Baddaginnie, Sunday Lunch at the Devenish Hotel, Heavenly Vibrations at the Goorambat Uniting Church, Tatong’s great big garage sale, Retro Continental Kaffee und Kuchen at Georgina’s, an afternoon of music at Holy Trinity Church and the Mocking Birds concert.
