Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE celebrated the success of their students last Wednesday with an Awards Recognition Ceremony held at its Benalla Campus.
The event recognised students who successfully completed their studies in 2016 within the Services sector including Business, IT, art and design, sport and recreation, community services and health.
Saskia Gargan was awarded the Outstanding Student Award — Health for successfully completing Diploma of Nursing.
GOTAFE team leader, health and community for Benalla, Rebecca Guy described Saskia as an excellent ‘‘all-rounder’’ student.
‘‘Saskia showed excellence in all aspects of her study, she was professional, with strong attention to detail demonstrating pride in her work,’’ Ms Guy said.
‘‘In the classroom Saskia was respectful and supportive of her classmates contributing to a healthy team environment.
‘‘Saskia was a pleasure to teach and to have in the classroom and with all these amazing attributes she will make a wonderful nurse.’’
GOTAFE executive manager, education operations Louise Pearce was excited to catch up with the students to find out where their training had taken them.
‘‘We are excited to see these newly qualified students enter the local workforce and use their skills to better the community,’’ Ms Pearce said.
‘‘GOTAFE is dedicated to providing regional students with access to unique programs, facilities and pathways to university.’’
This event is one of a series held throughout north east Victoria this March.
