Flood Warning

A flood warning has been issued for waterways across the north east, including the Broken River.

This Flood Watch is being issued for North East Victoria including the Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers, Kiewa River, Ovens and King Rivers , Broken River and Seven and Castle Creeks.

Minor flooding is possible from early Friday morning in the North East catchments.
A complex low pressure system southwest of Victoria will direct a strong northerly flow over the State on Thursday.
A cold front will cross Victoria on Thursday night with the low pressure system expected to weaken on Friday as it crosses Tasmania.
Catchments across the North East are dry and have the capacity to absorb significant amounts of rain.
Widespread rainfall totals of 50 to 80 mm are forecast for the North East of Victoria for Thursday and into Friday, with several hours of particularly heavy rain during Thursday evening and overnight into Friday.
There is the potential for higher totals of 100 to 150 mm as lines of storms form across the flood watch area.
Isolated minor flooding is possible across the North East catchments if rainfall totals are in the upper range of the forecast.
Minor flooding may develop from early Friday morning.

You should stay informed by listening to emergency broadcasters and monitoring warnings.
Monitor weather forecasts and river levels. Go to www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings.
Farmers should consider moving livestock and machinery to higher ground.
Floodwater is dangerous - never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.

Impacts in your area:

Low lying caravan parks and camping grounds may become flooded.
Areas around rivers and streams may be flooded.
Local roads may become closed and low bridges may be underwater.
