This was the makings of Waminda Community House’s recent luncheon, where dozens of local residents flowed through the doors of the Activity Shed to get a glimpse of the centre’s latest renovations.
While construction on the shed finished in January, Waminda’s team of volunteers decided Thursday’s community lunch was the perfect opportunity to launch the reopening of the shed — and teamed it with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
Waminda Community House coordinator Janet Symes said the event was a great way to let people know the shed was back up and running and ready to be used.
‘‘We want to make it an inclusive place,’’ Ms Symes said.
‘‘We’re here to strengthen and empower the community.’’
There are several different projects in the works for the Community House, including the reformation of its homework club.
‘‘And we are looking forward to getting the community garden up and running,’’ Ms Symes said.
The Activity Shed is available to community groups to hire, with use of the room perfect for any activity.
From jewellery making to snack making and other various workshops, no activity is too big or small.
Benalla’s neighbourhood house is also used by NDIS, for coaching group and mental health services, while the monthly health services that visit the house, including immunisations and dental checkups, have proven to be a hit with the local community.
