The match is set to be played at Carlton’s IKON Park, with the 58-player squad set to be cut down to a final 22 after four training sessions.
Speaking to his inclusion, Warnock said it had been nice to be recognised as one of GVL’s best players.
‘‘It was a bit of a surprise to get named,’’ Warnock said.
‘‘It’s always been something I wanted to do.
‘‘And I always wondered if I’d get to that point.’’
Warnock is no stranger to playing representative football, having recently lined up in the GVL interleague match last month.
He said the main thing he enjoyed about these types of matches was getting to know other players within the league.
‘‘You don’t realise how good they are until you play with them,’’ he said.
‘‘You actually realise they’re all decent fellas.’’
The squad will have its first training session in Cragieburn on Wednesday, followed by two Sunday sessions. And if Warnock is picked in the starting 22, he will attend a final practice session before the big day.
‘‘Obviously there’s getting picked in this squad, it’s another thing getting picked in the final one,’’ Warnock said.
But if form is anything to go by, Warnock stands a good chance of impressing with his versatility with the Saints this season, after moving from the forward line to defence in recent weeks.
‘‘I’ve been playing as a forward for the last six, seven years,’’ Warnock said.
“About two weeks ago, Jimmy (Martiniello) came to me and said I’d be having a go at centre half back.
“Obviously, he came to me for a reason, and it’s to benefit the team.
‘‘And I feel like it’s going reasonably well.
“I think they’re fairly keen to leave me there, so I’ll take it on, and if it works, it works.’’
The Victoria Country squad will be led by head coach and former AFL player Danny Frawley, with Mark Sandilands and Rob Condy in assistant coach roles.
