The Polish world No.2 was asked about the privacy for players after Gauff was filmed in a Rod Laver Arena tunnel repeatedly smashing her racquet following a crushing loss to Elina Svitolina.
The third-ranked American said she deliberately attempted to "go somewhere where there was no cameras" before letting her frustrations out.
The 21-year-old complained about the presence of cameras around the tournament, saying she felt some moments didn't need to be broadcast.
"So, yeah, maybe some conversations can be had because I feel like at this tournament the only private place we have is the locker room," Gauff said.
She had an ally on Wednesday in Swiatek, who felt there was a lack of privacy at Melbourne Park compared to other grand slam tournaments.
The 24-year-old, who has won four French Open titles, herself was caught by cameras this week being stopped by security after forgetting her accreditation with the incident widely broadcast.
"The question is, are we tennis players, or are we, like, animals in the zoo where they are observed even when they poop, you know?," Swiatek said following her 7-5 6-1 loss to Elena Rybakina.
"OK, that was exaggerating obviously, but it would be nice to have some privacy.
"It would be nice also to, have your own process and not always be observed ... it would be nice to have some space where you can do that without the whole world watching.
"I don't think it should be like that, because we're tennis players - we're meant to be watched on the court and in the press - that's our job.
"It's not our job, like, be a meme when you forget your accreditation.
"It's funny, for sure. People have something to talk about. But, for us, I don't think it's necessary."
Swiatek said that Wimbledon and the French Open provided practice courts for players away from fans and cameras but that wasn't the case at the Australian Open.
"There are some spaces that you can at least go when you need to, but there are some tournaments where it's impossible and you are constantly observed, if not by the fans who can just buy some ground passes and go to your practice, then by the cameras."
Amanda Anisimova admitted she headed straight for the locker room, where she knew she would not be filmed, after her quarter-final loss to fellow American Jessica Pegula.
"There are good moments, obviously, that people see, and that's fun," said the fourth seed.
"Then, when you lose, there are probably not-so-good moments. I think the fact that the video of Coco was posted, it's tough, because she didn't have a say in that."
