The 31-year-old New South Welshman has clinched the Australasian Tour's Order of Merit - which comes with a spot on the DP World Tour for the 2027 season, a Japan Tour card and a start in the British Open in July.
The past three Order of Merit winners have also received late exemptions to the US PGA Championship, with this year's major in Pennsylvania in May.
It's just reward for effort after 21 top-10 finishes over the past four years and more than $50,000 spent trying to crack it in the US through qualifying schools.
Smyth's unassailable lead in this season's Order of Merit with one tournament remaining comes after playing just the minimum four events needed to qualify.
Making a late call to renew his Australasian Tour membership and using two invites, Smyth finished fifth in the NZ PGA Championship, and then fifth in the New Zealand Open.
He then won the inaugural Japan-Australasia Championship In Auckland, clinching the title in a six-hole playoff against Jack Thompson.
That was enough to give Smyth the buffer needed to retain top spot despite finishing tied 47th at the Heritage Classic in Victoria's Yarra Valley on Sunday.
Smyth's nearest rival Cameron John tied for 19th, leaving him almost 200 points behind and unable to catch up.
Following the likes of David Micheluzzi, Elvis Smylie, Ryan Peake and Anthony Quayle, who have used the Australasian PGA Tour to play their way onto major tours, Smyth wondered if he'd missed his shot.
"It just feels so good that I'm that guy that played well at the right time and has gotten this break and this pathway," said Smyth.
"I've just watched it over the years, so many times, guys that aren't playing as consistently as I am, that I feel like I'm just as good as they are, if not better, and I'm watching them weave in and around tours and work their way up and I'm just like, 'When's it going to be my time?'"
Winner of the NT PGA Championship before turning pro in 2017, Smyth looked destined for great heights with his first international victory coming on the Asian Tour a year later.
He credits his caddie Richard Hallam for helping him finally crack the big time.
"He's been a godsend," Smyth said of Hallam, who worked with fellow Aussie Wade Ormsby for more than a decade.
"There are times where you get frustrated and you might try and blame your swing and work on stuff and Rich has been really good in the almost psychology sense for me.
"It's just been really freeing, having him there. He seems to always say the right things at the right time."
