His round nine performance in a narrow defeat to Shepparton United was a standout, notching 36 touches, 17 contested possessions and nine tackles, dragging his side agonisingly close to their first win.
Welsh also managed a game-high 35 disposals against Shepparton Swans, helping his side to their first win of the campaign on that occasion.

Midfield partner Will Martiniello chalked up 34 touches in the win over Swans, James Martiniello and Wade King close behind with 26 apiece.
Despite picking up just two wins this year, Benalla often lead the clearance battle thanks to their midfield guns, Welsh leading the way alongside Martiniello with a total of 75 clearances this year, the fourth highest in the league.
