KYABRAM was thwarted in an attempt to gain an outright win over Tatura in Cricket Shepparton’s Haisman Shield competition last Saturday but jumped into third place on the ladder with its fourth win for the season.
Brothers and attack spearheads Charlie and Jackson McLay bowled Kyabram to a first-innings win, helping to dismiss the visitors in their first innings for 95 in 40.3 overs.
Charlie finished with figures of 4/18 off 10 overs, including four maidens, while Jackon’s 3/28 was produced from 14 overs.
They were well supported by Paul Parsons and Jonathan Hipwell each with a wicket.
Connor Davies put up the most resistance of the Tatura batsmen with a dogged 33 and at 9/65 veteran Glen Walker’s unbeaten 22, with support from James Collett, gave a late boost to the Tatura total.
Sent in again Tatura avoided an outright loss finishing at 3/83; Jayden Armstrong the saviour with a fighting 49.
Kyabram travels to Shepparton this Saturday to tackle Central Park-St Brendans.
KYABRAM'S B grade side was up to the challenge of covering Tatura’s solid score of 247, with a dominant century from Kyle Fitzgerald spearing Kyabram to a mammoth 7/380.
In his first game for the season Fitzgerald opened his shoulders to slam 18 fours and two sixes in his knock of 107.
Jack Young also put his hand for promotion with a half century in an impressive scorecard in which every Kyabram batsmen reached double figures.
KYABRAM'S D grade side completed a hat-trick of wins for the club on the day with a win over Northerners.
The win was highlighted by a matchwinning knock of 97 from Mackenzie Ryan, which included 15 boundaries and three sixes.
Gavin Canute also had a good game for Kyabram with four wickets and 31 runs, as Kyabram reached 6/199 off 37.4 overs in reply to Tatura’s 197.
