If that sounds interesting to you, pick up your tickets for the New Years Eve's charity event at the Northo.
The charity in question is EdSpace, which is looking to raise funds for their current project - establishing a training kitchen and cafe at 22 Bridge St.
EdSpace principal Maggie Fanning said the idea was put to her by locals Brad Hearne and Michelle Slot.
“I think they thought that Benalla could really benefit from having a New Year's Eve party open for anyone to attend,” Ms Fanning said.
“And fortunately for us they have chosen EdSpace as the charity for the event.”
The evening will feature live band Adam Toms & Co with finger food and canapés being served throughout the evening and drinks at bar prices - with $1 for every drink purchased also going to Edspace.
The Northo management will also be moving some tables aside to create a dance floor.
There will be a complimentary drink on arrival from event sponsors Dal Zotto and Bridge Road Brewers as well as door ticket prizes.
The night will also feature a silent auction from the event sponsors including:
● Artwork by Tim Bowtell;
● Parliament House Afternoon Tea & Tour with Shadow Minister Steph Ryan;
● Sally O'Brien Fitness Package;
● Ray White Benalla & Mulberry Lane Property Styling Sales Package;
● Wine by Dal Zotto, King Valley;
● Bridge Road Brewers Package; and
● D & R Hendersons.
Ms Fanning said the timing of the event is perfect as EdSpace have been looking for a new fundraiser.
“We had an event that we ran in Benalla for 11 years,” Ms Fanning said.
“But unfortunately the person who was doing that for us could had to stop.
“So this is a really timely new initiative that hopefully we can continue with into the future.”
With EdSpace offering a Cert II in hospitality and a Cert II in Business the idea to open a commercial kitchen and cafe has been on the table for some time.
“The plan is for it to be a way for students to learn about and experience a real world kitchen which provides food and coffee to the community,” Mr Fanning said.
“And all those things will come together in this little enterprise.
“We have already started some of the project. So we’ve had the plans drawn up and we're working with council to make sure we meet all the regulations.
“So we're really looking forward to the New Year's Eve event to move it forward.
“And I just want to say that we are really grateful that this initiative has came from the community as opposed to internally.
“That’s really impressive to us and we really appreciate it.”
The Ensign will be giving away two double passes to the event.
