Lions host a variety of fundraisers throughout the year with the aim of supporting local groups, organisations and programs.

President Graham Milner said this was one of his last jobs before welcoming incoming president Denise Brown at the club's upcoming changeover dinner.
“We don't have a date for that just yet as we hold our meetings in the bowls club and we are still awaiting the easing of coronavirus restrictions before we can book that,” Mr Milner said.
“But at the moment we have a list of 19 groups we will be funding with what we have left in our fundraising accounts.
“And that is one of the last jobs I will do before handing over to Denise.”

Mr Milner said this represented just the latest funding the club had announced.
“Lions have dispersed around $26 000 for the year,” he said.
“Some has gone to bushfire response, some to welfare within Benalla rural City, and at this stage we’re distributing to different things like SES, CFA and Scouts for example.
“Two groups getting funding that I would like to mention are the Rose City Band and Benalla P-12 College Band.
“They support us greatly with things like Carols by Candlelight, so we are very happy to be able to support them.”
Mr Milner said much of the funding not on the above list went to supporting the bushfire recovery effort.
“We donated in the order of $7400 to the bushfire response,” Mr Milner said.
“We also attended Corryong and Jingellic areas assisting BlazeAid.

“We helped with the meals as they were doing the re-fencing.
“Two of us took caravans up there and cooked for the BlazeAid team.”
Mr Milner said the Lions were already planning this year's Carols by Candlelight, however, some of their normal activities were still on hold because of coronavirus restrictions.
“The market is still not taking place and the antique fair in early October has been cancelled,” he said.
Benalla to benefit from $2.5 million investment
“We will keep an eye on government advice and advise the public via The Ensign when the market can resume.
“We’d also like to thank the Bendigo Bank and Benalla Rural City for their support throughout the year, particularly with the carols.
“And as outgoing president I’d like to thank everybody for their assistance during the year.
“I hope they will continue the help with the incoming board of directors and new president.”
