Businesses and residents on Sydney Rd rejoice as new Benalla bus service goes live

The new number two route runs as far north-east as Irwin Rd and will service the Benalla Tourist Park, as well as industrial estates on both sides of Sydney Rd, connecting a number of local businesses with the CBD.

Cr Claridge said the new bus stops were created about two weeks ago.

“The turnaround went in at Irwin Rd some time ago, so we are pleased it is now being used and there is an hourly service out to Enterprise Park,” Cr Claridge said.

Ms Ryan said the extension had been a long time coming.

“This is a fantastic win for the local community who have been tirelessly campaigning for the bus route to be extended along Sydney Rd for five years,” Ms Ryan said.“Residents will finally be able to travel in and out of town to complete errands with ease, and it will also improve accessibility to Yooralla’s Business Enterprise and promote tourism.“The outcome shows we can get results when our communities work together and we continue to beat the drum.”
