The SES has responded to more than 9200 requests for assistance since recent storms swept across much of the state.
While many parks, gardens, reserves and state forests may be busy across the next few weeks, severe weather conditions have affected parts of Victoria, resulting in the closure of locations deemed inaccessible or dangerous.
VICSES volunteers across the state are once again preparing for rain and elevated wind conditions and the danger it will bring.

VICSES State Agency Commander Alistair Drayton said the authority was asking the community to respect the closure of parks and forests, even though the easing of COVID-19 restrictions allows travel between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
“Many roads remain closed and emergency services and power utility companies are continuing work to clear trees and restore power,” Mr Drayton said.
“We understand ongoing road closures can be frustrating for drivers, but it is critical that everyone abides by them.
“These closures are in place to ensure the safety of our community, so take the time to plan your journey before you leave.

“Remember to never drive through flood water. It can take only 15 cm of water for a small car to float.
“Unstable or partially collapsed structures, fallen or damaged trees, fallen powerlines and flood waters are among the common health and safety risks following the destructive weather across the state.
“Please remain vigilant as you travel across the state these school holidays.”
Ensure you consider your need to travel if you had planned to visit an area that has experienced severe weather conditions.

It is important that people planning a trip outside of Melbourne do not travel to flood and storm-affected areas.
Watch out for trees when camping and hiking in parks and forests, as recent wet and windy weather can destabilise trees or branches, making them more likely to fall.
