A musician has been hospitalised after he was stabbed several times outside the venue where he had been performing.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing the 69-year-old musician in his chest and back near the entrance of a sports club in Mereweather, in Newcastle's south, on Sunday night.
