The social connection grants aim to strengthen social ties, reduce isolation and support community-led wellbeing in Benalla.
There are two tiers of the social connection grant to help support a wide range of community-led activities.
Tier one: digital support grants provide up to $1000, supporting community groups that face barriers to accessing digital technology, providing appropriate technology so they can stay connected and engage with their members.
Tier two: community activity and event grants provide up to $5000, supporting community projects, events and activities that bring people together and encourage social connection.
First Nations social connection grants provide up to $5000 to support projects, events or activities that build connection, inclusion and belonging for First Nations communities.
First Nations grants are open to local community groups or organisations led by or working closely with First Nations people.
Rural City of Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said these grants supported local groups in making safe, welcoming and meaningful change.
“It’s about supporting local groups to lead the work they know will make a difference,” Cr Hearn said.
