Council’s 2026-27 Event Funding Program, which opened on July 1, supports community events through financial aid.
Funding is available across two tiers, reflecting expected event size and impact.
Up to $1500 is on offer for minor events, attracting fewer than 1000 people, while up to $3000 is available for major events of more than 1000 people.
Mayor Bernie Hearn said the program continued to play an important role in supporting an active events calendar across the municipality.
“Events help bring our community together,” Cr Hearn said.
“This funding supports organisers to run great activities that people can enjoy, and it helps show visitors what Benalla Rural City has to offer.”
Groups are encouraged to apply early, with there being strong demand for funding each year.
“We know how much passion and hard work goes into planning local events,” Cr Hearn said.
“By applying early and ensuring all documentation is complete, organisers give their event the best chance of success.”
Applications must be submitted eight weeks prior to the event and provide all required documentation, including insurance, quotes, financial information and an Australian Tourism Data Warehouse listing to maximise promotion and reach.
Council encourages event organisers to discuss their proposal with the tourism and events officer before applying.
