It used to be “Drink don’t Drive’’ but they may have to change that to ‘’Drive But Can’t (Afford) To Drink!’’ was the suggestion.
April falls
Kyabram has received its first rainfall for April.
Not much though with rain overnight Sunday to noon Monday morning measuring just 2.4mm.
Kyabram’s rainfall for March amounted to 128mm, one of the highest falls on record for this month.
The March total brought Kyabram’s yearly total to 200mm.
April 1 produced a maximum high temperature of 30.6ºC, but since then, maximums have ranged between 23ºC and 26ºC and it may well be the last 30-plus temperature until spring.
Stolen greenery
Owners returned to their Echuca home last week to find a good portion of the front front lawn missing.
They had just laid the lawn, so they were naturally surprised at the brazenness of the theft. Police are investigating.
A large trailer or truck would have been needed to perform he robbery.
Milestone
You may have never heard of Younamite, a tiny hamlet 24km south of Yarrawonga, but its Country Women’s Association recently celebrated a notable milestone.
CWA branch members celebrated its 90th birthday on March 25 at the Younamite hall, which has been the club’s home for 90 years.
One member, June Field, has been a member for 78 years.
June has had a real passion for the branch and named her daughters Carol, Wendy and Allison after the CWA initials.
Congratulations to Younamite CWA and June.
New mural
Renowned Benalla artist Tim Bowtell has been commissioned by the Cobram Arts For All hub to paint a mural for the local fire brigade.
Bowtell’s murals are well known, and all across Victoria, particularly on the Art Silos trail.
He will use his noted painting skills on a 2m by 17m of the CFA fence at Cobram.
He is expected to start work on the mural at the end of this month and complete it within a month.
Candidate forum
A candidate forum featuring those standing for the seat of Farrer is being organised and may be the only time those contesting the by-election may get together to rally voters.
The Deniliquin Pastoral Times and Southern Riverina News have partnered with the NSW Farmers Association to deliver the forum to be held at Deniliquin on April 21 with support from Edward River Council.
There are nine candidates chasing the seat vacated by former Liberal member Sussan Ley.
Lotto payday
Not a bad way to celebrate Easter.
A Tocumwal man had a $2.8 million payday in a Lotto draw recently.
The winner held seven division one winning entries in draw 4663, which equated to a more than handy windfall of $2,857,142 86.
Nobody might never know who the winner was as he plans to remain anonymous.

Square dinkum
G’day
I said to a mate, ‘’I managed to get a full tank of fuel for $60 today.’’
He said, ‘’Wow, was it for your van or your wife’s car?’’
I said, ‘‘Neither. It was for the lawnmower.’’
Hooroo!!!
