In November, the group will be hosting a youth disco for local young people aged 10 to 16.
Greg Dennis, one of the committee members and organisers of the event, said the first event held in the newly refurbished hall was a community pizza night.
“We screened a movie, ordered about 50 pizzas and the locals turned out in force,” he said.
“We ran out of pizza pretty fast, but it inspired us to do a food and wine event in May, ‘Sip, Savour and Socialise’, which was also very successful for all involved.
“Both times we had financial support from the Benalla Rural City Council’s Social Inclusion Action Group.
”This time we applied for a grant from Tomorrow Today because we wanted to do something for children and young people.
“In our small community, there’s not a lot for that age group.”
The Youth Disco is on Friday, November 14 from 6pm to 9.30pm and will feature a DJ and refreshments.
“The event is free to attend and food will also be free,” Mr Dennis said.
“We’ve got a local DJ who will be playing new music to get everyone up dancing.
“We also looked at how we can make the event a safe one for everyone, so we’ve hired security.
“We have an online registration form and there will be no pass-outs on the night.
“The grant we received also covered the purchase of a new first aid kit for the hall.
“We are really hoping that our young locals will come along and enjoy the night.”
