Bakers Delight franchisee Liza Curtis said opening day went really well, and they were very happy.
“We couldn’t keep up with the bread, which is probably not that surprising, given that Cobram hasn't had a Bakers Delight for six months,” she said.
“It's been really lovely, the customers are just gorgeous, and they're all welcoming us into town, which is really beautiful.
“We've well over doubled our followers since we started posting on Facebook, so we’re really stoked with that.”
Mrs Curtis said her favourite part of the day was seeing how well the staff were working together.
“I've got couple of old ones, couple of new ones, and they're all just shining, and we brought our bakery manager over from Kyabram, she's helping us out here today,” she said.
A special highlight of the day was receiving a surprise visit from the owners of Bakers Delight.
“Cobram must have been a pretty special place because Lesley and Roger Gillespie, the owners of Bakers Delight, came to visit ... they don't come to many bakeries in the country, so it's very special having a visit from them.”
Michelle Cox has been working at Bakers Delight for 15 years and only had a rest when it closed months ago.
She said it was the “best thing ever” that the store had reopened, as she missed all the people.
“We’re like our own little family,” she said.
Since being back, Ms Cox has run into many old regulars and has enjoyed catching up with them.
“Because I haven't been working, they pull you up everywhere and have a chat saying we missed your smiley face,” she said.
Cobram local Pat was there opening day to buy a loaf of bread and said she was so excited the store was open again.
“We've been waiting and waiting for this to open up because this is the only bread that we really enjoy,” she said.
Another local, Katrina, said she was super happy to see it open again and that the town definitely needed it.
“I've got the high-fibre lo-GI loaf, which has been very missed, the twisted loaf and a vanilla slice,” she said.
“We're probably here at least three times a week, so it’s good that we’ve got it back, and I think everyone else agrees.”
