Represented in the exhibition are more than 40 works by 21 talented students from Benalla P-12 College; FCJ College; Euroa Secondary College; and Galen Catholic College, Wangaratta.
Featured in the exhibition are drawings, paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, new media, and graphic design.
It also includes a rotating display of student preparatory support material, such as folios and notebooks, providing visitors with greater insight into the development of works.
The exhibition provides students from across the region the opportunity for artistic recognition in a public art space.
Representative of a range of media and topics, this exhibition highlights the creativity and diverse talents of young and emerging artists within our community.
Benalla Art Gallery director Eric Nash said the exhibition was particularly striking for the sense of raw expression, and also the sophistication of the concepts many of the artists explored.
“Themes range from architecture and the environment, to travel, dreams, and memory; from notions of family, belonging, gender, identity, and body positivity; to mental health, experiences during the pandemic; and even lessons we can take from history,” Mr Nash said.
“Beyond being a thoroughly enjoyable exhibition owing to the skills of the student artists, it’s always an insightful window into the issues that matter most to our young citizens.”
Showcase 2022 is on display at Benalla Art Gallery until November 20.
