She is presenting a collection of vibrant watercolour works on paper and acrylic paintings on canvas throughout December.
Her floral-themed artworks draw inspiration from her immediate surroundings and the Australian landscape.
These artworks present bold and dynamic interpretations of her own garden and the native flowers that inhabit the region.
The Night Garden theme draws on the magical and abstract qualities of Ms Wingate’s own garden at night.
“It gives me an opportunity to create exotic and colourful images in a style that encompasses my love of folk art and botanical painting,” Ms Wingate said.
“I am excited to be involved in Benalla Art Gallery’s summer program.
“As a local artist and north-east (Victoria) resident for the past 25 years, I have always been inspired by our beautiful region.”
Ms Wingate started her painting journey during COVID lockdowns, and her artistic style has evolved.
She transitioned from traditional botanical art to producing vibrant abstract representations of flowers and plants.
Her work now features bold, flat planes of colour and shape, employing cropping and exaggeration of proportions in her art.
Ms Wingate is president of Bridge Street Studios, Benalla, a long-time member of the Friends of the Wangaratta Art Gallery and a resident artist at Art Gallery on Ovens in Wangaratta.
She has exhibited her work in Corowa, Violet Town, Wangaratta, King Valley Art Show and Rutherglen Art Show.
All works in the gallery shop are available for purchase.
Ms Wingate’s works provide inspiration for beautiful Christmas gifts, and visitors to Benalla Art Gallery can take advantage of a 10 per cent discount on works within this exhibition until Sunday, December 17.
New and existing gallery members who are entitled to a discount of 10 per cent will enjoy a total 20 per cent discount during this period.
Discounts will not apply to a new Arts Project Australia Gallery Shop exhibition space.
