A club spokesperson said a group of walkers recently headed to the Strathbogie ranges, beginning the day by following the Lima East walking track.
“This rose steeply from the car park and up through large boulders,” the spokesperson said.
“Then we followed Moonee Moonee Creek to James campground, before retracing our steps for a morning tea break.”
A short drive followed, with the group soon reaching the starting point for the Rocky Ned Falls Walk.
“It’s a short 2km return on a formed track to reach the scenic falls,” the spokesperson said.
The Benalla Bushwalkers recently tackled the Rocky Ned Falls Walk in Lima East.
“This site has great facilities for a day visit.
“Here our walk leader, Christine Holmes, made the decision to complete the uphill section of the third walk.
“This section proved the most challenging as we made our way up to the top.
“The uphill track was littered with fallen logs, overhanging foliage and slippery conditions underfoot.
“However, we all made it safely to the summit to sit and eat lunch, while admiring the panoramic views.”
Following lunch, there was time for a quick visit to nearby waterholes and pools.
Walkers then retraced their steps downhill, before taking a short drive back to James Campground, where they enjoyed afternoon tea before heading home.
“Thanks to Christine Holmes for leading this series of enjoyable short walks in the Strathbogies,” the spokesperson said.
