A co-op spokesperson said members recognised, thanked and celebrated 10 years of voluntary dedication and hard work by retiring co-ordinator Christine Holmes.
It was Ms Holmes who originally suggested the idea of a food co-op at a forum on sustainability organised by Benalla Sustainable Future Group (BSFG) in 2010.

“It took nine months of meetings with Kathy Murphy, Lynne Seaman and Tanya Walker to turn the idea into a reality,” the spokesperson said.
“The Benalla food co-op opened in May 2011 and has flourished ever since.
“Christine initiated and carried out many improvements during her 10 years at the helm.
“It is completely run by volunteers. Members can buy high quality non-perishable goods, with low food miles, and many products are organic.
