Its aim is to help residents better understand and navigate the My Aged Care system, with local experts on hand to provide information, answer questions and connect people with the right services.
The event will bring together a range of trusted service providers who support older residents and their carers, creating a welcoming space for community members to ask questions and gain practical guidance. Morning tea will be provided.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the session was designed to help people better understand their options and how to access support through My Aged Care.
“Accessing aged care services can feel overwhelming, particularly for people who are just starting the process or supporting a loved one,” Cr Hearn said.
“This event is about bringing information and support together in one place, so people can have real conversations with local experts and feel more confident about the options available to them.”
Cr Hearn said council was committed to supporting older residents to stay informed, connected and supported within the community.
“We know how important it is for people to age well in their own community. By hosting events like this, we’re helping residents access the services they need and strengthening local connections at the same time,” she said.
Guest speakers and information providers will include:
- Care finders from Salvation Army and Gateway Health.
- Services Australia.
- Benalla Health – Healthy Communities.
- Community Interlink – Support at Home provider.
- Elder Rights Australia.
