During his tenure he completed the project to have two seats installed at the cenotaph.

He also replaced a damaged wooden cross with rock and plaque then arranged for the cross to be fully restored by Benalla ‘woodies’ before being installed in a memorial garden out the front of the RSL.

Following requests from the community Paul has introduced new ceremonies to the sub-branch’s regular schedule, including the commemoration of the Battle of Sunda Strait, which resulted in the loss of the USS Houston and HMAS Perth and many of their brave crews.

Captain Hec Waller was captain of the Perth in that battle.

Paul has handed the presidency to Brett Taylor-Parkins, a life member of the RSL.

He comes to the role with a great deal of experience and is an army veteran.

Brett has successfully run the Anzac Day events for the past 13 years and has been on the Anzac Day committee for 21 years.

He has also been involved with the Young Endeavour program and community groups, including the SES.
