Tourism plays a vital role in Benalla Rural City’s economy, attracting about 350,000 visitors annually and contributing $48 million each year.
To strengthen local tourism offerings and drive sustainable growth in the local tourism sector, Benalla Rural City Council, working closely with TRC Tourism, has announced the release of its draft Destination Management Plan.
Mayor Bernie Hearn is calling on the community to review the draft plan and share their thoughts.
“The draft Destination Management Plan is about showcasing the best of what Benalla Rural City has to offer, identifying opportunities for growth and ensuring we continue building a sustainable future for tourism in our region,” Cr Hearn said.
“We encourage everyone in the community to have their say and help shape this important plan.”
The plan aims to highlight Benalla Rural City’s unique assets while identifying gaps and opportunities to enhance the visitor experience.
By focusing on sustainable tourism practices, the plan seeks to support local businesses, attract investment and ensure Benalla Rural City remains a vibrant destination.
Community members are invited to provide feedback on the draft plan until Thursday, May 15.
Local input is crucial to ensuring the plan reflects the aspirations of the community and meets the needs of the tourism sector.
