Part of the Benalla Festival, the event is one to mark in your calendars, taking place on Sunday, November 9.
Benalla Shorts director Anna Smith said it provided an exciting and exotic finale to the Benalla Festival program.
“There were 87 films entered, with 10 shortlisted by the judging panel including films from Iran and the US, for our international film lovers,” she said.
“Subjects vary from women surfing the waves to finding that dream job, and the films ranges from three to 14 minutes in length.”
Ms Smith said all involved were honoured to have been nominated for a Victoria Community Achievement Award, two years in a row.
The judges this year will be Krista Vendy and Bruce Hunt Hughes.
Ms Smith said Krista has balanced her acting and modelling career and has a lifelong interest in charity, which is evident by her commitment as judge, now returning for her fifth year.
She is an Australian actress known for her role on Neighbours, where she played teacher Teresa ‘Tess’ Bell.
Since Neighbours, she has guest starred in television roles in Australia and the US including, Blue Heelers, Shock Jock, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Leverage and Mental.
Her Film credits include The Writer, Fat Pizza, Horseplay, The Incredible Hulk and Matching Jack.
Bruce Hunt Hughes’ career began on the London stage with A Streetcar named Desire, before immigrating to Australia, pursuing a film and television career.
His credits include A Country Practice, Blue Heelers, Halifax FP, City Homicide, Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War and more recently a Netflix series, The Portable Door.
He has also featured in films, including Darkness Falls, The Visitors and Ghost Rider.
“Benalla Shorts would like to thank the community for their continued support for allowing us to grow for the last 11 years,” Ms Smith said.
