On Tuesday, March 31, VCE VM and VPC Year 11 and 12 students planned and delivered the afternoon tea.
This event formed part of an integrated project across literacy, numeracy, work-related skills and personal development skills.
Benalla FLC leading teacher Rebecca Reid said that at the beginning of the year, students selected a project that was meaningful to them.
“Following the impact of the Longwood bushfires — during which one of our students lost their home — they chose to give back to the community and express their appreciation for the CFA,” she said.
“Students took responsibility for organising the event, including catering, and prepared coffee and hot chocolate for attendees.
“We were pleased to welcome members of the Benalla and Warrenbayne fire brigades, and students valued the opportunity to learn more about CFA volunteering and the diverse roles members undertake.”
The afternoon provided a meaningful opportunity for the FLC school community to show its support and gratitude.
“To those CFA members who were unable to attend, Benalla Flexible Learning Centre extends its sincere thanks — your dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed,” Ms Reid said.
