Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines recently announced the grant, which is part of the Stronger Communities program.
The successful organisations were awarded between $5000 and $18,855.
These grants will support organisations to maintain and improve infrastructure and facilities, and enable groups to purchase much-needed equipment.
“Hard-working community groups exist across every corner of Indi, and it is a privilege to recognise this through the Stronger Community grants,” Dr Haines said.
The Gecko Clan will install new audiovisual equipment to improve access to digital services and connectivity for community members, including aged persons and environmental community groups.
“From Alexandra and Mansfield right across to Corryong and Wodonga, groups in Indi are coming up with fabulous initiatives and supporting our communities,” Dr Haines said.
“These projects are occurring in shared spaces across our communities, in the community halls, recreation reserves and sporting facilities. It is wonderful to know the benefits of these projects will extend right across our communities.
“The number of quality projects we reviewed is a testament of the incredible projects happening right across Indi.
“Congratulations to everyone who was successful in this round of funding! I am looking forward to seeing your fabulous initiatives progress.”
Some 62 expressions of interest were received for the program across Indi. They were assessed by a community panel on their ability to encourage and support participation in local projects, increase community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.
Successful local projects include:
Wangaratta Baseball/Softball Sports Club: $15,000 to upgrade female amenities and improve accessibility with new disability-friendly features.
Line Wangaratta: $8000 to support ongoing program delivery for LGBTQIA+ people.
Mansfield Tennis Association: $6000 to install electric barbecue facilities.
Gecko Clan Inc: $10,000 to purchase a photocopier/printer, teleconferencing screen and associated microphones and speakers for community group use.
