The park will provide a dedicated, safe, and accessible space for the community's furry friends to exercise and socialise.
The project was developed in response to community demand for more off-leash areas in the municipality.
Key features include a fully fenced enclosure with large, all-abilities airlock entries, and a separate, dedicated section for quiet or nervous dogs, a feature specifically requested by residents during community consultation.
Mayor Bernie Hearn said the completion of the park was a fantastic milestone for the Benalla Rural City community.
"We heard our community loud and clear – they wanted a safe, modern space for their dogs to run around and socialise," Cr Hearn said.
"It’s great to see this project finished on time and ready for the community to enjoy."
The park's design incorporates sensory enrichment for dogs, including raised landscaped areas with sand, dog-friendly plants, and rockeries.
Compacted crushed rock paths offer level surfaces for visitors, while benches provide a place to rest.
The official opening, community barbecue and pawsome giveaways, will be held on Friday, March 13, however residents and their pups will be able to experience the new facility sooner, once construction is completed in the coming weeks.
