Benalla's Nick Mellington re-signs with Seagulls

Benalla football product Nick Mellington will wear the blue and gold once again, re-signing with state league outfit Williamstown in 2021 following a successful first season at Downer Oval in 2019.

A former Murray Bushrangers captain, Mellington has competed at VFL level since 2014, playing for both Richmond and Coburg before crossing to Williamstown at the end of 2018.

In his first season with the Seagulls, Mellington played 14 games, where he averaged 15 disposals and five tackles, before featuring in the side's losing grand final team.

Benalla, Violet Town fixtures released ahead of 2021 season

General Manager of Football at the Seagulls Stephen Soulsby said he was excited to see Mellington's "influential grunt and versatility" back amongst the midfield group in 2021.

“Nick has had a big influence on the group since joining us. He's a natural leader within the group leading by his actions but also the way he communicates within the group is second to none,” Soulsby told williamstownfc.com.au

"His ability to play selfless roles as needed within a game situation is something he has brought to us and he's highly respected within the group."

Mellington will be joined at Williamstown by fellow Benalla product Tom Downie, who was announced to have signed with the club last November.
