Former Benalla player, Alan Sutherland, will be bringing Hockey Victoria’s Roadshow to Benalla’s primary schools, teaching basic hockey skills through games like rob the nest and, ‘‘what’s the time Mr Wolf?’’
Sutherland will be at P-12 Waller Campus today, P-12’s Avon Campus Thursday and Christian College Friday morning.
Tiger family fun nights are also set to start Thursday, February 21, running through to the end of term one.
‘‘We are a family club and offer great fun, with great people, playing a great sport for ages five to 65,’’ Benalla Hockey Club said.
The Hookin2Hockey (H2H) program is back and will be running from 5pm, teaching beginner hockey skills to all primary school-aged kids.
More information and registration details can be found on the Hookin2Hockey website at www.hookin2hockey.com.au
This will be followed by social hockey at 6pm.
‘‘It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in having a go at hockey, no experience necessary,’’ the club said.
‘‘So come by yourself, with a couple of friends, with the family, or just hang back after the kids have finished H2H and give it a go.
‘‘Club sticks will be available for use.’’
For all juniors who completed H2H in 2018/2019, the club will be running Stick2Hockey from term two.
The club said this program incorporated games that built on the hockey skills learnt in H2H and bridged the gap before starting under-10 competition hockey.
Benalla girls also have the opportunity to attend Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, hosted by the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association on Saturday, March 3, at McEwan Reserve Shepparton.
Coaches from Hockey Victoria will run free clinics for all levels, starting at 11am.
