Moama has been perennial finals contenders over the last few years, with the seniors and reserves sides sitting atop the Murray league ladder after round two.
Rams seniors head coach Ash Morris said the Rams’ performance against Nathalia was an improvement from round one against Finley, and he’ll be looking for that trend to continue.
“I’m just pleased to improve on our performance from last week,” he said.
“We’ve still got a lot to work on, but it felt like we were playing a better brand of footy on the weekend against Nathalia.”
Despite only winning by 10 points in the end, Morris said he felt his team were the better side on the day.
“The final scoreline appeared pretty close, but we had some good chances in the second quarter we probably didn’t take to put the game away.
“But overall, I was pleased with the effort, and Nathalia did well keeping it close.“
Moama presents another stern test for the Rams, but Morris said the team is keen for the challenge.
“It’s a strong club which has made finals for the last three or four years, and should be strong again this year.
“However, we’ll have a fair bit of confidence going into the game.
“In our first six games this year we play almost every one of the top six teams from last year, which is a great test for where we’re at. We’re excited for the opportunity.”
Morris said the reserves side is also going well, which is good for the quality of senior football ahead of their game between two currently undefeated sides.
“They’re 2-0 and in pretty good form, which is an opportunity for a couple of players to come up in the firsts.
“This creates pressure on spots, which is great, and we’re trying our best to reward players going really well in reserves.
“Moama has been the benchmark in the reserves for the last three or four years.
“Our reserves haven’t beaten them in a while but we feel fairly confident.”
