On Wednesday, June 24, Benalla Rural City Council officially adopted its 2026-27 budget at its council meeting.
The budget addresses council’s commitments to delivering key services, maintaining infrastructure, and progressing major projects across the municipality for the next financial year.
Mayor Cr Bernie Hearn thanked the participants in the consultation process.
“We’re grateful to every resident, business and community group who took the time to provide feedback,” Cr Hearn said.
“Your input was invaluable and helped us deliver a budget that truly serves the people of Benalla Rural City.
“This budget lays the groundwork for a productive year ahead, ensuring we continue to build a thriving and connected community.”
The budget’s key highlights consist of funding for sealed and unsealed road renewal and maintenance, intersection safety upgrades, investment in local parks, streetscapes and recreational facilities, drainage upgrades, support for key community events and ongoing support for youth, maternal child health and family service programs.
