Council seeks feedback on Violet Town streetscape plan

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a draft streetscape plan it has released for Violet Town.

The release of the draft plan follows an extensive community engagement program to ensure community input was at its heart.

The aim of the plans, which have been released for several towns across the electorate, is to improve the commercial vitality of the LGAs main streets by delivering infrastructure improvements that:

Create a distinctive sense of place for local residents, visitors and businesses;

Provide a high-quality, attractive public space where people want to visit and shop; and

Improve the attractiveness, comfort, accessibility, connectivity and safety each of our main streets or main commercial areas.

Mayor Laura Binks said Strathbogie Council was now seeking further input from the community to ensure it had captured their feedback and to help prioritise works.

“Council committed $650,000 in the 2020/21 Budget to create these streetscape plans and complete initial works,” Cr Binks said.

“We’re excited we’ve been able to work with local contractor About Architecture to create plans that will help shape our community’s identities, increase civic pride and improve a sense of wellbeing and belonging.
