Funded through the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the $120 000 investment has supported a series of vital improvements designed to enhance Molyullah’s community hub and support the ongoing connection, wellbeing, and the resilience of the Molyullah and Upper Ryan’s Creek districts.
The four completed projects include:
- New undercover area: A sheltered outdoor space at the rear of the Molyullah Hall, offering a weather-protected space for community gatherings and events.
- Upgraded toilets: Improved facilities to meet the increased numbers of people using the hall.
- Children’s playground: A new play space encouraging outdoor activity
- Fish and Chip shed upgrade: Refurbishment of the cooking shed used for the monthly Fish and Chip Nights, including food safety improvements, stainless steel linings, and new deep fryer equipment.
In officially opening the grant-funded upgrades, Cr Bernie Hearn praised the Molyullah Hall Committee and volunteers for their hard work on these projects.
“The Molyullah Recreation Reserve and Public Hall is at the heart of this rural community and these upgrades reflect the hard work of the volunteers and the strong community spirit that defines Molyullah,” Cr Hearn said.
“Council is proud to partner with the Australian Government to help bring these important projects to life.
“Whether it's the hugely popular Easter sports event, the monthly Fish and Chip nights, or children exploring in the playground - these upgrades ensure the space remains welcoming, inclusive, and ready to serve the needs of the community for many years to come.”
The Molyullah Recreation Reserve and Public Hall Committee supports social connection and wellbeing across the district, providing opportunities for residents in the rural settings of Molyullah, Upper Ryan's Creek and the surrounding districts to come together, connect and thrive.
"Molyullah Easter Sports, the Hall’s largest annual fundraiser, regularly attracts more than 1000 attendees — a testament to the strong community spirit and the benefits improved facilities will bring to the area,” Cr Hearn said.
“Benalla Rural City Council acknowledges the support of the Australian Government for this investment through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, which has funded more than $300,000 worth of community projects in the region in partnership with council.”
