Deni juniors get grand final experience

Daniel Burn following hitting the winning runs in the under-12 SRCC grand final.

Deniliquin cricketer Daniel Burn was a member of the under-12 Southern Riverina Cricket Council Southern Steers to claim a grand final this year.

The Derek Rogers Cup was played on February 18 against Wagga Blue at Nathalia.

Daniel ended the season not out in every innings for the Steers, and hit the winning runs in the final to finish 12 not out.

The Wagga side set a total of 5/138 after 40 overs, with the young Southern Steers chasing down the total comfortably with seven wickets in hand.

Daniel was also asked to play with the SRCC under-14 side in Howlong on Sunday, in round seven of the Geoff Lawson Cup.

Three Deniliquin players were also selected for the under-16s Warren Smith Cup grand final played last weekend against Wagga, in Wagga.
