This is traditionally a yearly event that takes place between Shepparton, Yarrawonga, Albury and Wangaratta Table Tennis Clubs.
But with the sport growing in popularity in Deni under the guidance of Judy James, a local side stepped up to the challenge.
Held at the Wangaratta Table Tennis Centre, the competition was a one-day round-robin series of matches between club teams across four grades.
Deniliquin fielded teams in divisions one and three, and the junior competition.
“All teams performed well in a long and fairly intense day of competition against some very experienced players, and while the team didn’t win, they were not last either,” James said.
“For most of the players, this was their first experience playing in a competition like this.
“They all had a very enjoyable and rewarding day while undergoing a bit of a learning curve regarding rules, regulations and playing tactics of competition.
“They all responded admirably and put in a fantastic effort. We are looking forward to entering again next year.”
