The community of Devenish got together on Friday, May 20, to raise funds for Cancer Council Australia by hosting a Biggest Morning Tea.
The event was organised by “The For Good of Devenish Committee”, and member June Howard said they were excited to get a good crowd down to the local oval.
“We had 35 people in attendance,” Ms Howard said.
“Guests came from Benalla, Goorambat and St James as well as nine residents from Woods Point in Yarrawonga with their carer and driver Narelle.
“Students and staff from Devenish Primary School joined in, along with our local and district residents.
“Guests enjoyed a sumptuous morning tea served by Tracey, Olive and Diane.
“The final tally raised for cancer research and support services was a wonderful $500.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to one and all for your attendance and support of this very important and worthy cause.”
The Ensign recently reported on another local Biggest Morning Tea, held by Kerri Straughen.
She contacted us this week to confirm she had raised $1059 for the cause.
