Deniliquin Eyecare optometrist Peter Thompson says that “regular eye examinations are the key to early detection of any issues”.
Mr Thompson encourages people to book in to get tested regularly, but has put an emphasises on men during Men’s Health Awareness Week.
“I encourage you to make an appointment at least every two years in order to care for your ongoing eye health,” he said.
Another area to be mindful of is UV protection.
“Sunlight can contribute to eye damage and problems that can eventually affect your vision,” he said.
“Wear close fitting, wrap-around sunglasses with high UV and glare protection.
“Broad brimmed hats are also important to help prevent long term damage to your eyes and eyelids.”
Deniliquin Eyecare also offers the latest technology with an OCT Scanner, which produces highly defined images of the internal structures of your eyes.
“Using cutting edge technology, we can more accurately identify and treat eye disease and conditions, often before you experience any noticeable symptoms ,” he said.
