Two display homes were built just over a year ago, and the next stage of construction will see 19 homes, with the clubhouse taking shape.
Emblem Group director Rowan Pollard was on-site on Friday, September 5 with Pete Symes from Ray White Benalla and future resident Julie Plumridge.
“We've got to that exciting milestone of commencing construction on our next stage,” Mr Pollard said.
“We've done the displays, and now we're full steam ahead into the actual construction of the village, which is a very exciting stage for us to be at.”
This stage of construction should be completed in the next 12 months, with residents able to move in thereafter.
One of those residents, Julie Plumridge, said she could not wait to get her keys.
“It is so exciting,” she said.
“We wanted to downsize, but when we initially looked in Benalla, there was nothing.

“So we looked everywhere around, right up to New South Wales.
“Then, one day, Pete (Symes) said, ‘come on, come and have a look at Emblem’.
“We walked in and thought, ‘this was it’.
“This is home. We love it, and we can stay here with our family and friends, which is even better.”
Ms Plumridge said on top of the homes being perfect for her to downsize, there were many benefits.
Those range from the community that is being developed, with many like-minded downsizers, to things like garden maintenance being looked after, the proximity to Benalla and the beautiful area.
Mr Symes said a community like Emblem was exactly what Benalla needed.
“We've had significant interest locally, but we're also getting people from far and wide, which is really exciting as well,” he said.
“It’s bringing new people to the town as well as giving something for our local residents that's been really badly needed for a long period of time.”
Ms Plumridge said she was now looking forward to seeing the development being built.
“The quality of the homes is amazing,” she said.
“The other properties we looked at, there was always something lacking.
