The Benalla branch of the Cake Decorators Association of Victoria and Waminda Community House will receive a share of $66,665 which has been distributed to 25 organisations across Indi.
Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines has announced the successful volunteer organisations following a highly competitive volunteer grants program that attracted 141 applications.
Waminda House will receive $3825, while CDAV - Benalla branch will get $2028.
Across the electorate, 25 organisations will receive grants of between $1000 and $5000 to help cover costs including insurance, communications, equipment, training and volunteer-led activities.
Dr Haines said the successful organisations reflected the breadth of volunteering across Indi.
“Volunteers are at the heart of so many things that make our communities work ‒ from emergency services and sporting clubs to supporting people experiencing hardship, helping young people and caring for our environment,” she said.
“These grants are competitive, with 141 organisations applying this year and only 25 able to receive funding.
“Congratulations to all the successful organisations, and thank you to everyone who took the time to apply.”
The successful organisations include community groups, sporting clubs, Men’s and Women’s Sheds, emergency services, environmental organisations and groups supporting young people, veterans, people experiencing homelessness, newly arrived migrants and people living with cancer.
