The Fire Danger Period will finish at 1am on Monday, March 30 in CFA’s District 22, which includes Strathbogie Shire, Moira Shire and the City of Greater Shepparton.
CFA District 22 Assistant Chief Fire Officer Rohan Taylor said that while the FDP was coming to an end in some areas, it was still important to remain vigilant.
While the Fire Danger Period will come to an end, it is still important that residents check the local conditions are safe for any burn-off they are considering undertaking.
“You must register your burn-offs, check weather conditions and follow local council laws and regulations,” Mr Taylor said.
“You are legally responsible for safe burning all year round, failure to monitor and prevent escapes may result in legal action.
“Registering your burn-off ensures that if somebody reports smoke, the incident will be crosschecked with the burn-off register.”
Landowners can register their burn-off online at firepermits.vic.gov.au/
Alternatively, you can register by calling 1800 668 511.
