Workshop co-ordinator Peter Shead, senior technical adviser Shane Quinn, maintenance fitter Tim Long and maintenance system administrator Rod Green were among an apprentice intake of six on January 18, 1982, the other two were Russell Whinray and John Mangan.
A morning tea attended by some 60 fellow employees throughout the facility marked the milestone achievement where all four spoke of their enjoyment working at the explosives factory.
“As a company we truly value length of service - the knowledge built up working in a high-risk environment,” Thales General Manager Trevor Gunn told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“The knowledge built up with plant and equipment is just so significant for ability to do the work and add to the safety of fellow workers.
“These four employees have certainly seen change here, from a propellant plant to a propellant plant, high explosives and cast composite environment.”
