Free green waste weekend coming up at Benalla landfill

Green waste includes lawn clippings, branches, garden prunings and raw timber offcuts.

To access free disposal, residents are asked to just bring green waste on the load.

If residents arrive with a mix of green waste and other waste, it could be challenging to separate the load to decide which materials were free.

The Benalla landfill only accepts timber that was raw and in its natural form.

So any machined timber would not be accepted as green waste for free disposal.

Stumps need to be less than 400mm in diameter and 1000mm (1m) in length.

The free green waste weekend is for domestic customers only.

Only sedans, utes or trailers (up to dual-wheel tandem will be accepted).

Trucks and tippers are considered commercial quantities, so not eligible to dispose of for free.
