The program is part of a statewide $16.3 million investment aimed at reducing the impact of feral pigs, deer and other pest animals on agricultural, environmental and cultural assets.
Through Murray Local Land Services, landholders can access free clean grain and poisoned bait for feral pig control programs, along with free Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training (VPIT) required to gain accreditation for pesticide use in vertebrate pest animal control.
Equipment support is also available, with free loans of traps and monitoring equipment to help landholders undertake coordinated control programs on their properties.
Murray LLS is also offering practical training events, tailored advice from local biosecurity officers and assistance to develop pest animal management plans.
Support is available for neighbours wishing to work together on coordinated control programs, with a strong focus on landscape-scale pest suppression.
The program builds on previous statewide initiatives and aims to increase landholder participation, strengthen pest management skills and help land managers meet their biosecurity obligations.
Landholders seeking advice on control options suited to their property can contact their Murray LLS biosecurity officer by calling 1300 795 299.
