The Family Haven, which opened in 2020 in Mooroopna, has supported more than 492 families by providing a welcoming space for parents, carers and children while accessing food aid, family violence support and housing assistance.
“We are immensely grateful for the provision of $5000 in fuel vouchers, this donation helps ensure that at-risk single mothers and their children are not left isolated due to transport barriers,” Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project executive officer Amy Robinson said.
The donation will fund a community bus service, addressing transport challenges for families in areas with limited public transport options.
“At Lighthouse, we believe our community offers a world of possibilities when it comes to supporting our young people,” Ms Robinson said.
Jade Augustine of the APCO Foundation explained the motivation behind the donation.
“We want to win the hearts and minds of our customers, retail partners, staff and the broader APCO community to give back and support the communities we live in,” she said.
The APCO Foundation, established in 2013, supports local initiatives across Victoria and southern NSW through its convenience store network.
The foundation will host its annual Giving Day on Tuesday, July 29, where donations will be matched by partners.
