This new partnership will provide students with a purpose-built learning space and access to up-to-date, industry standard equipment in a modern healthcare setting.
From February, the Diploma of Nursing will be delivered from a fit-for-purpose space at Benalla Health.
The course is currently available under the Free TAFE scheme, and enrolments for 2023 are now open.
GOTAFE Chief Executive Officer Travis Heeney said the Benalla Health facilities would strengthen ties with the local industry and offer local students real-world experiences, leading to better learning outcomes.
“Students will have the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a real healthcare setting with state-of-the-art technology, as well as gain an understanding of the theory and practical applications necessary to succeed in this profession,” Mr Heeney said.
“We’re offering local opportunities to study free TAFE priority courses that will benefit the community and industries.”
The Diploma of Nursing will be taught by industry-experienced educators, offering students a practical and innovative approach to their learning.
Benalla Health Executive Director of Clinical Services Lisa Waite said the health service was keen to strengthen its partnership with GOTAFE with students being on-site in a soon-to-be-developed space for their simulation lab and learning.
“Supporting local people to study nursing is a priority and one that we are very happy to be a part of,” Ms Waite said.
GOTAFE will continue to offer other courses including the Certificate IV in Community Services and Certificate IV in Mental Health from the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre from semester one next year, while construction of the new CBD campus is under way.
